Out‑of‑Network Insurance Information
Like 95% of New York State Massage Therapists, Robert does not participate with insurance plans and does not bill insurance companies directly. Patients who have out‑of‑network benefits may be able to submit their own receipts to their insurance provider for possible reimbursement. A detailed invoice, often called a superbill, can be provided upon request and includes the information most insurance companies require for patient‑submitted claims.
Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends entirely on the patient’s individual policy, including whether massage therapy performed by a licensed massage therapist is eligible for coverage. Some plans require a medical diagnosis from a physician before considering reimbursement, while others exclude massage therapy altogether. Patients are encouraged to contact their insurance provider directly to verify their out‑of‑network benefits and determine whether their plan offers any reimbursement for massage therapy services.
